Designing the identity of a an art prize celebrating digital creation
Role:
Art Direction, Logo Design, Branding, Motion Design
Client:
Fondation Etrillart & Académie des Beaux-Arts
Agency:
Dvparis
I was commissionned by the Foundation Etrillart to redesign their yearly identity of the digital art prize for their second edition.
The brief was quite open in terms of design, but had to integrate some major constraints: the identity shouldn't take over the participant's creation, it should be adaptable to a wide range of formats and ratios notably on social media, and it should be animatable.
I approach this challenge by creating two pillars to rely on: First, a typographic system based on a helvetica like font combined with pixel shapes, resulting in a simple yet embodied identity for the prize.
And secondly, a key visual made of a cube combined with circles and lines representing the three axis as a metaphor for the origin of every digital creation. It also allows for a variety of angles, closeups and animations across all formats.
